I can’t believe it’s already 2015!!! I hope you had the best New Year’s Eve you could wish for. I always struggle with what to do on New Year’s Eve. Do you feel the same? And how do you deal with it? I wanted to look back at the year 2014 before I start and enjoy 2015 to its fullest. Starting with the very first look of 2014. Smiles all over the place! I love to look back and think about what I’ve learned and how I’ve grown personally and study/career wise. It has been a roller coaster. When I think about the challenges, the life questions and decisions I had to make, I feel like it was more than one year. You have to know that I only share positive thoughts with you on the blog because I want my blog to be a positive and energizing place where I can inspire and entertain you. But we all know we all have our ups and downs in life and dealing with them in a postive way, has made me so much stronger and I have grown as a person. I realized that being realistic isn’t always the way to go in life. Also, scheduling everything in life is also not the way to go. I find it very hard to let go and to let destiny do the work. Because we don’t know what will happen tomorrow and we have to live the moment. That was the most important life lesson I learned in 2014 and I’m very thankful to be in a position that I learned and realized that.
Last year, I was put to the challenge to combine 2 studies, my blog and of course maintaining a social life (ok ok, technically, I chose all of this myself, but still…). The 2 studies were quite a pain in the ass I must confess. I have managed to work it and from February until early summer, I will be writing my thesis (for my Graduate Law degree). I have never regreted the decision to start a masters in health law. I’ve learned so much and I’m satisfied about the progress so far. In 2015, I will hopefully get my master’s degree in law and my bachelor’s degree in dentistry. I am totally looking forward to receiving those papers after years of hard studying. It doesn’t mean that I’m finished studying yet, since I will have three more years left in my master’s in dentistry.
2015 will be a year of studying & blogging, but also of traveling. As you might know, I live for traveling. It’s where I get my energy from and what I can look forward to so much. As we speak, I’m in Val Thorens in France where I will be skiing with my good friend Joy for a couple of days! I haven’t skied for 4 years now and I’m very scared that I forgot how to ski. My Dutch high school friends used to call me ‘ Gefarah‘ which combins my name and the Dutch word for danger. Not something to be proud of haha :). But we’re not done yet. In March I’m going to Miami for 2 weeks with 8 friends! We’re going to the Ultra Music Festival, words cannot describe how excited I am about this trip!!! It will also be my first time traveling with such a big group. I’m curious how that will turn out! Even though I think it will be a challenge, I also think that it could be one of my best trips ever. Aaaaand if everything is going to plan, I will spend my summer backpacking (let’s hope for 2 months). Probably all by myself. Another challenge & another trip to look forward too. I haven’t completely decided where to go. If you have great experiences, please do share these with me.
In 2015 I will also continue my blogging life as I have done the last two years. Although it’s a lot of work to be make sure I keep it up, I really see this as my little diary where I can put all my thoughts and love into and where I can inspire you. I still enjoy blogging and I hope that I will be an inspiration for you in 2015 and longer! Let’s rock 2015 ALL TOGETHER!
I have summarized special moments in 2014 below!
Fashionweek in January! Now it’s already that time of the year again! I remember that it rained so bad when the shows were over. And of course: I didn’t have an umbrella. But I didn’t want my white coat to get dirty! So what did I do..? I asked the cleaning guy for a garbage bag. Haha, not fashionable at all but for a good cause. Why not?!
I am working on my master’s degree in Law at the University of Amsterdam’s Law School. To be precize: at the Oudemanhuispoort. This buidling is surrounded by beautiful streets and canals. Together with Diederik, we squeezed ourselves into these streets in between classes to shoot outfit pictures. Good times! 🙂 Afterwards, we treated ourselves at one of the greatest lunchspots in town: de Laatste Kruimel. My love for good food will last forever!
This year was all about being nerdy. This outfit represents it to the fullest hihi:) But I lost my glasses! How can one lose his/her glasses? Farah can 🙂
I got the opportunity to collaborate with a couple of brands including Mexx. One of the many cool things about blogging: get to know and collaborate with a brand that suits my style.
Since I love making trips, taking outfit pictures in every city is a must! I shot outfit pictures in every city except for Budapest last year. That’s a pity. However, I love to travel in style. Literally :p. I shot this outfit in Berlin. Felt like a total Berliner myself. Lots of vintage and going hipster all the way.
The year 2014 is the year I turned 25. A quarter of a century. Something that I wanted to celebrate in style! Together with my bestie, we shot this birthday shoot I’m still so happy with! I just love how these pictures turned out. Just the way I love that I will not get older than 25 of course. From now on, I will be 25. Always. Period. Haha 🙂
Kingsday, one of my favorite days of the year. For the first time, it wasn’t ‘Queensday’ anymore, but ‘Kingsday’. Together with Zalando, I created a Kingsday outfit that you guys liked a lot!
Another highlight of the year: attending the Nelly party-of-the-year in Stockholm where they celebrated Nelly’s 10 year anniversary. I got the chance to discover beautiful Stockholm and meet bloggers such as Kenza and Angelica Blick. It was a total new experience and will forever be etched in my memory.
For the second year in a row, I won the Goosecraft Blogathon battle! Something I never expected! The very well-known Dutch stylist Fred van Leer was part of the judging panel, which made me a very proud winner! Thank you again for your support!
An outfit for a collaboration with Sacha for which I had to style these shoes for a blogger battle with fellow blogger Kelly of We heart fashion. I love the nude colors in this outfit and nude is a color I wore a lot in 2014. That will continue in 2015 for sure!
This year, I got the chance to see the CRAZIEST music festival EVER in Paris called ‘the Technoparade’. Just Google it, you’ll know what I mean. When I say crazy, I mean craaaahaaazy. Definitely something that I will remember. Oh, and also this amazing jacket which I’m still in love with. Craziness.
The year I fell in love with overknee boots and got myself two pairs of them. Oops 😛
Not because of the outfit, but because of the moment that this pictures represents is why it belongs in this recap: spoiling my bestie with a high tea treatment at the Amstel Hotel. 2014 is the year she graduated and got a job! A full time career tiger she is and she rocks. Always will.
Spending my bestie’s birthday in Paris was also a highlight of the year. We spent a whole weekend in Paris together and had some real quality time.We liked this so much, that we thought about doing this every year on each others birthday! A birthday get-a-way! 2015 resolutions baby!
Probably the most wonderful collaborations of 2014. Together with the Italian jewelry brand Ti Sento, I created 4 looks and had the chance to be their style advisor at the Bejeweled workshops at the department warehouse ‘de Bijenkorf’. Loved to inspire all those women in real life and get the chance to actually chat with them. Offline is so much more fun than online, I can tell!
And we ended the year with sparkles all over the place (and with a feature in the INVITO folder). May 2015 be a sparkly year for all of you!
